PREMIAIR Racing owner Peter Xiberras says 2026 is more than just a rebuilding exercise for his team.
The Chevrolet squad has today shown off its revised Camaro designs, completing the pre-season Supercars livery rush.
Nulon branding remains but there is an increased presence for NAPA and a new arrival in Mr Umami which had last appeared at Brad Jones Racing.
Now, it’s all about lap time as PremiAir heads to Sydney Motorsport Park with a revamped driver line-up of first-year rookie Jayden Ojeda and former Tickford full-timer Declan Fraser.
“Coming off 10th place in the teams’ championship and with a double driver change, some might expect that 2026 will be a rebuilding year for us – but that is not how we see it,” said Xiberras.
“Roland Dane is family within our team now, sitting in the team principal’s seat and focused on the job at hand.
“Under his leadership, the goal is on performance from day one. As part of this, he has made it clear there are internal expectations to meet, even if he is not publicly outlining them. He has never been one for bold predictions, preferring to prove it on track before talking about it, and I can tell you the message for the team is simple: let the results do the talking.
“Having said that, I can say I am feeling invigorated about the season ahead.
“We have put in place a very strong structure for us to launch from, and with Roland and our new drivers combining with those team members who are continuing on with us, including our race engineers Andrew Gilliam and Simon Hodge, with Ludo Lacroix and Romy Mayer supporting from the workshop – I have every confidence in our team.
“It is a very fresh environment with our new pairing, and they bring a lot of energy to our team, but at the same time, they are very mature young men who know what is required.
“Declan Fraser has already had a season in the main game too, so in a way, you could say we have one and a half rookies if you like! He will be working with Simon, while Jayden Ojeda will pick up where he left off with us last year with Gilly.
“Our Chevrolet Camaros have also had a reset, undergoing a full rebuild ahead of this year’s campaign to make sure both cars can roll out strong from the beginning.
“All of our mechanics and team members have been working exceptionally hard across the break to make this possible, and I cannot thank them enough for their dedication.”
PremiAir will be hoping to avoid a repeat of its pre-season test woes from 12 months ago, when fire engulfed James Golding’s car.
Urgent resurfacing works have caused a last-minute change of plans for the all-in 2026 Supercars Sydney test, with cars to run on the shorter Druitt Circuit tomorrow morning (8:30am-12:30pm) and then the standard Gardner layout on Thursday night (5:30-9:30pm).
