DONNING the #15 won’t be the only blast from the past for Craig Lowndes in this year’s Supercars enduros.
V8 Sleuth has learnt the Team 18-run Supercheap Auto wildcard Camaro will be engineered by Richard Hollway.
Hollway previously guided the #20 Chevrolet of David Reynolds, which will now be engineered by Geoff Slater. In announcing that change, Team 18 made clear Hollway was continuing with the team in a different role.
The Supercheap car will make three appearances this year, with Bayley Hall debuting at the solo Ipswich round in August before teaming up with Lowndes for The Bend 500 and Bathurst 1000.
Hollway will also be engineering Hall in this year’s Dunlop Super2 Series, adding depth to the pair’s working relationship.
Known as ‘Krusty’, Hollway worked at the Holden Racing Team/Walkinshaw Racing from 1997 to 2009.
Lowndes was overseas for all but the enduros in ’97, but returned to HRT full-time for the following three seasons as he, Hollway and the entire squad embarked on a string of championship successes (which extended through 2002 for a team five-peat).
Hollway later spent a decade at Garry Rogers Motorsport, notably tasting victory on multiple occasions with a young Scott McLaughlin.
Hollway joined Team 18 ahead of the 2021 season.
Lowndes meanwhile arrives at Charlie Schwerkolt’s outfit after spending the past 21 years with Triple Eight.
