A couple of nights ago, Chanticleer finished reading Andrew Ross Sorkin’s fabulous book on the Wall Street crash that sparked the Great Depression, which is simply called 1929.
There’s no shortage of lessons from the book and that crash that resonate today. But a fascinating one is how the key protagonists from the period – both the celebrity investors and the well-known short sellers – recognised the role that media played in shaping market sentiment, and tried to harness this power.
