The Drishyam franchise continues to flourish in Malayalam and Hindi, led by Mohanlal and Ajay Devgn respectively. With the first two instalments achieving significant commercial and critical success, Drishyam 3 is now in the works in both languages. However, the Telugu version of Drishyam may not be moving forward with its third instalment at least not with its original leading man.
Venkatesh opts out of Drishyam 3; Telugu franchise faces uncertain future
Venkatesh Daggubati, who headlined the Telugu adaptations of the first two films, has reportedly opted out of the third part. According to sources, the actor has significantly increased his remuneration following a string of recent successes. Industry insiders suggest that his revised fee may be beyond what the recession-hit Telugu film industry can currently accommodate.
The steep remuneration is believed to be a key reason why Drishyam 3 in Telugu has, for now, been stalled.
Unless Venkatesh is replaced by a more financially viable option a move that could alter the franchise’s established appeal the Telugu leg of Drishyam appears to be in jeopardy.
For the moment, the future of Drishyam 3 in Telugu hangs in the balance.
