Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane) is set to write and direct an adaptation of Grady Hendrix‘s comedic horror novel Horrorstör for Searchlight Pictures, THR reports.

Published in 2014 by Quirk Books, the story centers on ORSK, an IKEA-like furniture superstore in Cleveland, that becomes subjected to supernatural occurrences. To uncover the mystery, a group of employees sign up for a night shift, only to get way more than they bargained for — in a most sinister way.

Brian Oliver of New Republic, Gillian Bohrer of Megamix, Adam Goldworm of Aperture Entertainment, and Brad Fischer will produce. Hendrix will executive produce along with Quirk Books .

VP of production Richard Ruiz and production executive Apolline Berty are overseeing the project for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to heads of production and development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.

Horrorstör was initially being developed as a TV series from FX back in 2015. It was later optioned by New Republic Pictures for a feature in 2020. Hopefully, the third time’s a charm.

Although My Best Friend’s Exorcism is the only Hendrix adaptation to make it to the screen so far, several more are in various stages of development alongside Horrorstör.

The list includes The Blanks from Netflix, The Southern Book Club’s Guide To Slaying Vampires from HBO, Ankle Snatcher from Sony, How to Sell a Haunted House from Legendary, and BadAsstronauts from Paramount.
