AUSTRALIAN Formula 1 star Oscar Piastri is set to drive a Supercar next week in Melbourne, according to a report.
The News Corp Australia report indicates Piastri will hop behind the wheel of Cam Waters’ Ford Mustang Gen3 Supercar on Tuesday at Calder Park, with the opportunity arising through mutual sponsor Monster Energy.
Monster has been the naming rights sponsor of Waters’ car ever since his rookie main game season in 2016.
The Piastri opportunity follows a similar initiative three years ago at Calder involving Tickford’s Castrol car with then Alpine F1 trio Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon and Jack Doohan.
“That was insane! A really amazing experience the first time driving this beast,” Gasly reacted at the time.
“It was actually my first time driving on an oval, it was incredible.
“Just too short – when I came back to stop here, I wanted to go for another 10 laps! It was a very impressive car, much different to what I’m used to driving so I definitely had a lot of fun.”

Max Verstappen recently revealed he had sampled a Dick Johnson Racing-built Gen3 Mustang in Las Vegas.
