The next anticipated release for Capcom’s survival horror franchise, “Resident Evil Requiem,” is set to release on the PlayStation 5 on Feb. 27. 

This will mark the ninth game in the series and will bring back fan-favorite protagonist Leon Kennedy, who will be returning to Raccoon City.

Gamers like San Diego City College student Ayden Gonzalez has noticed more horror games coming out in 2026.

“I’m excited about them,” Gonzalez, 17, said. “They tend to overmind the horror games and they kind of just make it to scare. But I’ve been seeing more like psychological or like, more environmental horror games that look cool.”

John Wick game for wishlist 

Saber Interactive showcased gameplay snippets from their upcoming John Wick game.

The game lets you take control of the notorious Baba Yaga in a gun-fu action game, as you battle foes from inside a library to the streets. 

There is no set release date for the game, but you can wishlist the game to make sure you don’t miss the release.

‘Mina the Hollower,’ spring 2026

From the studio that brought you the platformer Shovel Knight, Yacht Club Games is set to release their latest game, “Mina the Hollower,” this spring.

This traditional retro art game has the feel of classic handheld games like “The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons,” “Metroid” and “Castlevania.”

The game will have 25 unique bosses, an upgrade system, and modifiers to create even more replayability.

Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Feb. 5

Nintendo showed its lineup of games coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 from their partner showcase on Feb. 5.

For 16-year-old engineering major and Xbox player Abidan Barrientos, the anticipated game of the year is “Lego Batman.”

“The Lego games have been gone for a while,” he said. “To see it come back, and with Batman, kind of crossing versions of him from the movies.”

The Lego Batman game is called “Legacy of the Dark Knight” and will be released on May 29.

It features various Batman variants from previous games and movie appearances.

‘Orbitals,’ Summer 2026

‘Pragmata,’ April 24 

Capcom has its foot on the gas, releasing another new title coming to the Nintendo eShop.

Pragmata is a game where you control Hugh Williams and an android, Diana, as they navigate a research center on the moon.

Diana has the unique ability to hack into electronics, making for unique gameplay and puzzle-solving elements.  

You can pick this game up on the Switch 2 on April 24.

‘Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflections,’ March 13

Take the bustling world of Monster Hunter with you on the go with Monster Hunter Stories 3.

Battle with monster allies called “Monsties” in this open-world experience and boost their abilities with the upgrade system known as the “Rite of Channeling.”

‘Overwatch’ update and mobile game coming

Activision Blizzard has released a big update for their live service hero shooter, “Overwatch.”

The company dropped the “2” in the title, and with that, we reset to season one.

With the addition of 5 new characters, one tank, two damage dealers, and two support characters, players have a lot of new options and compositions to try out.

These new characters are Domina (tank), Anran (damage), Emre (damage), Mizuki (support) and the popular new support, Jetpack Cat.

For those gaming on a mobile phone, Overwatch Rush is a 4v4 shooter announced for mobile devices set in the world of Overwatch. 

This game offers a new way to take your favorite heroes on the go to battle in four-on-four mayhem. The project is still in development stages.

‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege’

For the tactical shooter fans, “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege” released a new balance patch as well as a new operator teaser featuring the Metal Gear Solid series protagonist, Solid Snake.

‘2XKO’ new character release and patch notes

Riot Games continues to add more characters to the roster of their tag-fighter, 2XKO.

Caitlyn, the marksman from Piltover, joined the fight in late January and brought a new way for players to lock down opponents with her zoning capabilities.

Patch 1.1.2 has some minor gameplay fixes to ensure combat is flowing as intended, and Illaoi received some changes as well.
