If you want to see the first teaser for Scary Movie 6, you’ll have to either buy a ticket for Scream 7 this weekend, or rely on a sketchy bootleg someone posted to the internet. However, this time around, that bootleg was posted to the internet by Marlon Wayans, who stars in the movie and co-wrote the script.
Wayans posted the video as a Reel on his Instagram account, filming himself as he walks into a theater showing the trailer, which he insists “had better be scary.” The audience erupts in cheers as the trailer reveals the franchise’s trademark smiling Ghostface riding the subway, a la Scream VI. However, as usual, the deathless slasher franchise isn’t the spoof’s only target, as Wayans then cuts to a clip of some very Sinners-esque vampires at the door of a house party, promising to do “some half-gay s***.” What exactly that entails will have to wait for June 12, 2026, when Scary Movie 6 haunts theaters once more.
What Do We Know About ‘Scary Movie 6’?
The plot for Scary Movie 6 is still being kept under wraps, inasmuch as any of the franchise’s films have a plot. However, Wayans has suggested that the film will also feature spoofs of Get Out, Nope, Longlegs, Heretic, and Terrifier. A number of franchise mainstays are returning for the film, including series leads Anna Faris and Regina Hall; returning alongside them are Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Dave Sheridan, Cheri Oteri, Anthony Anderson, and Chris Elliott. Newcomers include Damon Wayans Jr. (New Girl), Kim Wayans (In Living Color), Heidi Gardner (Saturday Night Live), Olivia Rose Keegan (Gotham Knights), Sydney Park (The Walking Dead), and Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp). It will be directed by Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House), from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Rick Alvarez.
The original Scary Movie was largely a parody of Scream and the 1990s slashers that followed it, including I Know What You Did Last Summer; “Scary Movie” was actually the original title for Scream. Although it was largely excoriated by critics, the film was very financially successful, making $278 million USD on a $19 million budget. It went on to spawn a franchise, with Faris and Hall appearing in the first four films of the series; 2013’s Scary Movie 5, which featured Simon Rex and Ashley Tisdale as the leads, was considerably less successful.
Scary Movie 6 will be released in theaters on June 12, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
