Avengers: Doomsday‘s filming update makes a slew of the most wild and game-changing MCU theories around the movie look all the more possible for the film itself. The MCU timeline is now approaching its second decade of real-world runtime, and between this and the staggering results of Avengers: Endgame, the bar is certainly high for the next Avengers movie and its impending story.

That said, Multiverse Saga looks set to contain some true spectacle, with the nature of its multiple universe narrative opening up the door for almost anything to be possible within the next Avengers film. While plenty of MCU movie theories have run wild with what could be possible next as a result, the latest update about Avengers: Doomsday and its filming schedule does lend an extra dose of credence to many of the most dramatic theories about what’s set to happen for the MCU at the end of 2026.

February 2026 has brought with it news that more of Avengers: Doomsday is set to be filmed, as Red Guardian actor David Harbour mentioned in an interview with ExtraTV that he was returning to London in order to film more for the upcoming MCU movie.

This is particularly interesting given Avengers: Doomsday’s release is currently less than a year away, meaning a quick turnaround will be needed for any footage recorded in the coming weeks or months.

While it’s entirely possible this is simply a matter of a reshoot of specific scenes or scheduling requiring some moments to have been filmed later down the line at this point, it also seems entirely possible that these later segments are being recorded further on in order to reduce the possible window of time wherein more spoiler-filled moments or cameos could be unveiled to the public.

As such, the Avengers: Doomsday filming update supports the idea that there are even greater spoilers and twists in the movie that are being carefully concealed to give the story itself its best chance at surprising audiences – which in turn makes plenty of the wildest MCU theories about things like upcoming cameos in the final chapters of the Multiverse Saga seem even more plausible.

Why Filming Some Of Doomsday Closer To Its Release Is A Wise Move

Keeping elements of a multi-billion dollar franchise under wraps is a challenge that even the MCU has sometimes been bested by, with some major franchise reveals first becoming clear to audiences before said releases actually debuted thanks to things like set photos or videos.

As such, having some of Avengers: Doomsday filmed closer to its release helps deal with the potential risks this scenario presents, as even in a case wherein some major detail was revealed, it would at least be close to the actual release of the movie, rather than so far in advance that it prefaces the release of any trailers and thus may sabotage plans for the promotional direction of the film.

With much of the plot and cast list of Avengers: Doomsday still ambiguous to us, it will be interesting to see what the journey to the MCU movie’s December 2026 release looks like, and whether we get any hints of the major twists and turns on the horizon before its debut, or whether this side of things only becomes clearer with the film’s cinematic release.
