OBITUARY

Well known 800m runner during the 1980’s David Savidan of Auckland passed away on 20 February aged 58, after suffering a fall, 13 days earlier, in a cycling accident.
He competed for the Auckland University Athletic Club and represented Auckland at national championships.
He won the Auckland junior 800m title in 1985 and 1986 and the 1500m title in 1986. He finished sixth in the 1987 New Zealand junior 800m championship. Also in 1987 he made an Oceania team to race the 800m in Sydney where he was third. Savidan ran in the New Zealand senior championships in November 1989, which served as a trial for selection to the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games. He finished fourth in the 800m.
