Foodstuffs North Island and Foodstuffs South Island, whose brands include Pak’nSave, are appealing a decision by the Commerce Commission to stop the co-operative groups from merging.

Foodstuffs’ two major co-operative groups today told a court that their proposed merger should be cleared on grounds it is not likely to substantially lessen competition in any grocery market.

The pair have begun their appeal of a Commerce Commission decision in October 2024 that ruled against their proposed tie-up.
