A man arrested after a family harm incident in Waikato is due to appear in court today.

Police were called to Mellsop Rd, Parawera, between Arapuni and Kihikihi, just before 12.50pm yesterday.

Cordons were in place near Arapuni Rd and the public was asked to avoid the area.

Armed police,
including the Armed Offenders Squad, as well as the Police Negotiation Team, helped bring the incident to a safe conclusion, police said in a statement today.

Cordons were lifted, and the road was opened shortly after 6pm.
