Dearest Gentle Reader, we are coming up on a week since the release of the second part of Bridgerton Season 4. In that week, the Netflix Regency-Era drama maintained its streaming success, as seen with Part 1. The success does come as similar review bombing is seen in audience reviews on aggregator sites such as Rotten Tomatoes, but if there’s anything to take from the social media response at large, it’s that streaming success is the true reflection of the season’s quality. Starring Yerin Ha and Luke Thompson at the forefront this season, fans get to watch the Cinderella-esque love story between Sophie Baek and Benedict Bridgerton for eight beautiful episodes. And the final four episodes kept fans engaged so much that they naturally shot up to the number 1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 for television shows.

Bridgerton Season Four is described as follows:

“Season 4 follows the titular clan’s second-oldest sibling, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). Benedict meets his captivating romantic interest at his mother Violet’s (Ruth Gemmell) masquerade ball in the first episode of the new season. The thrilling clip at the top of the page captures the moment Benedict first spots the mysterious Lady in Silver — unbeknownst to him, her name is Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).”

The dip in the score is not as drastic as last time, and the gap between the audience and critic scores is slowly being bridged. Currently, on Rotten Tomatoes, the fourth season is Certified Fresh at 84%, and the audience score sits at 67%. For comparison, Part 1’s audience score dipped to 52%, the lowest of any season of Bridgerton, but bounced backto 66%.

Who Will Lead ‘Bridgerton’ Season 5?

Bridgerton was renewed for a fifth and sixth season last spring, and those seasons are likely to follow the love stories of Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) and Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd), but it is still unclear in what order they will play out. Will the series go out of order from the books yet again, as they did with Seasons 3 & 4 (which would mean Francesca would come next, not Eloise)? Or will they stick to the book order? Both characters seemed to be primed for the respective love stories, with Eloise’s heart softening to the idea of companionship after seeing Benedict and Sophie fight for their love (just like in the books), and Francesca saw the loss of her husband, John Stiring (Victor Alli), and grew closer to John’s cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza). When speaking with Collider’s Meredith Loftus, the trio discussed how John’s death has left the characters. Dodd explained:

“Her whole gravity has just been ripped from her. I really think that she felt like this was going to be a survival mechanism, that Michaela was the only other person who fully understood John. She’s the only person who can understand how this actually feels. And so if she can be okay, I can be okay, and vice versa. But she’s putting a lot of pressure on Michaela to be that person who pulls her through this. So I think she’s just devastated. I think that she probably just is going to be feeling like everybody leaves me, nobody loves me. She’s got a lot to work her way through.”

Bridgerton Season 4 is streaming on Netflix now. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
