The Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-B1000TLC-1A is the product of a collaboration that feels natural: a brutally durable watch inspired by a brutally durable vehicle. Built in partnership with Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body—the Toyota factory team that has competed in the Dakar Rally every year since 1995—this special-edition Mudmaster G-Shock embodies the same ethos that defines the Land Cruiser: reliability in the harshest conditions imaginable.
The design nods directly to rally life in the desert. The black dial carries red, blue, and yellow accents borrowed from Dakar navigation displays, while the resin strap features a textured pattern meant to evoke moonlit sand dunes during overnight stages of the race. The team’s logo appears on the band loop, band, and engraved caseback. Double LED illumination ensures the analog-digital display remains legible even in low light.
Underneath the rally-inspired styling sits one of Casio’s most capable tool watches. The GWG-B1000 platform uses a carbon-fiber-reinforced resin inner case with forged-metal exterior components, a structure designed to withstand shock, mud, dust, and vibration. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal and sealed for up to 200 meters of water resistance, while stainless-steel guards and internal gaskets help keep mud and debris out of the pushers and crown.
Casio’s Triple Sensor system provides a digital compass, altimeter, barometer, and thermometer, useful tools whether you’re navigating the backcountry or simply tracking changing weather conditions on a long drive.

Like many modern G-Shocks, it pairs rugged hardware with smart tech. The watch runs on Tough Solar power, synchronizes automatically through Multiband 6 radio timekeeping, and connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth for world-time adjustment and navigation features.
A particularly clever feature is the location indicator, which allows the wearer to set a destination in the app; the hand at 3 o’clock will then point toward that heading, effectively turning the watch into a miniature rally navigation tool.
This isn’t Casio’s first go-round with Toyota either. Last year, we covered the GW-9500TLC-1JR, a G-Shock Mudman created to celebrate Toyota’s 11th straight victory at the Dakar Rally. That piece is still available and is actually a bit more affordable than the latest model.
For car enthusiasts, the appeal goes beyond the specs sheet. This Mudmaster represents a meeting point between two icons of Japanese engineering. Toyota’s Land Cruiser built its reputation crossing deserts and surviving the world’s toughest rally raid, while G-Shock watches became famous for surviving nearly everything else. Put the two together, and you get a timepiece that feels less like jewelry and more like equipment.
