Armed police are responding to an incident in Auckland’s Papakura this afternoon, during which one person was seriously injured.

Police responded to a report of an injured person on Marne Rd at around 3pm.

“Initial reports suggest a possible weapon may have been used at the scene,” a police spokesperson said.

“Armed police are attending the incident out of caution.”

St John sent two rapid response units, one ambulance, and one manager to the scene.

One person in a serious condition was transported to Middlemore Hospital, a St John spokesperson said.

The scene was cordoned off, with members of the public asked to avoid the Marne Rd area.
