Sun Broadcasting continues its revamp of the stations it recently acquired from Beasley Media Group in Fort Myers as it launches a new on-air lineup at Classic Rock “96 K-Rock” WRKX-FM Bonita Springs.
Anthony ‘Roach’ Proffitt returns to the company to serve as APD/MD/midday host. Roach previously worked in the market as APD of Beasley Alternative “99X” WJBX from 2005-2010 and later worked at Sun as Program Director of Rock “93X” WXNX and later as APD/MD/midday host at “Rock 103.3” W277AP/WHEL-HD2 from 2022 until its demise in May 2024. Before arriving in Fort Myers, Proffitt worked at WPUP Athens GA, WKSM Fort Walton Beach, and programmed WNFZ Knoxville.
Former midday host Marija Puidak will move to afternoons in addition to continuing to co-host mornings at CHR “B103.9” WXKB. Marija has been with WRXK since joining the station as a weekend host in November 2020 and then rose to Programming Coordinator and midday host in May 2021. She originally came to the market in 2019 to host mornings at “93X” WXNX after stints in Kenosha WI and Fargo ND.
The syndicated “Dave & Chuck The Freak” based at Beasley’s 101.1 WRIF Detroit remains in mornings. Former PD/afternoon host Jeff Zito remained with Beasley in multiple roles including hosting nights on WCSX Detroit and WRAT Point Pleasant NJ.
With the addition of WRXK-FM to a cluster that also includes Classic Rock “94.5 The Arrow” WARO, the stations are positioning themselves away from one another as WARO will focus on music from the 1970s through 1990s, while WRXK-FM is centered focused on the 1990s and 2000s.
