While it may seem like Google did not add many new features with the Android 16 QPR3 update, we’re now discovering a new Transit mode that quietly arrived with the update.

One of the best parts of owning a Google Pixel device is that the company regularly adds new features through quarterly updates. Moreover, one of the more underrated features on Pixel phones is the Modes. While it replaces the traditional Do Not Disturb setup, it allows you to customize how notifications and interruptions behave.

At a Glance widget. The widget will now show additional details about your commute, including the reason behind delays along your regular route when they occur.

According to Google’s support documentation, Google Maps needs time to learn your commute patterns, and it may take two to three weeks before commute alerts begin appearing.

You’ll also need to grant permissions such as background location access for Google Maps, set your home and work locations, confirm location settings, and build your commute profile within Transit mode for the feature to work.

Transit mode is rolling out with the latest Pixel Android update, though it may take some time before it appears on your device. The feature is available on Pixel 7 and newer models globally, except in Europe and the UK.
