Kimi Antonelli made F1 history by becoming the youngest pole-sitter in the sport.
Aged 19, six months and 18 days, the Mercedes driver secured his first pole in his second season, beating the record previously held by Sebastian Vettel in the 2008 Italian Grand Prix when the German was aged 21 years, two months and 11 days.
Antonelli beat team-mate George Russell by two tenths of a second. The Briton, who won the Sprint race earlier in the day, had issues as he initially required a front-wing change after Q2.
Then, as he embarked on his first out-lap in Q3, he stopped on track, and although he managed to get going again, his W17 was stuck in third gear. Following a fix from Mercedes, Russell was left with one run to set a time, but missed out on pole.
It is an all-Ferrari second row, with Lewis Hamilton ahead of Charles Leclerc. Lando Norris starts sixth in his McLaren, with Max Verstappen eighth in his Red Bull.
