Anna Wintour and Anne Hathaway were quite the fashionable duo at the 2026 Oscars.
As the Vogue editorial director, 76, and the actress, 43, took the stage to present Best Costume Design and Best Makeup & Hairstyling at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, the two made references to Hathaway’s 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada.
Meryl Streep’s fictional character in the film, Runway magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, is widely understood to have been inspired by Wintour.

Before revealing that Frankenstein’s Kate Hawley had won Best Costume Design, Hathaway asked Wintour, “Anna, just curious, what do you think of my dress tonight?”
“And the nominees are…,” Wintour deadpanned in response.
When it came time to introduce the nominees for the Best Makeup and Hairstyling Category, ultimately won again by Frankenstein, Hathaway asked Wintour if she would “like to read the nominees.”
“Thank you, Emily,” Wintour said, jokingly mistaking Hathaway for her Devil Wears Prada costar Emily Blunt, who plays an assistant named Emily.

While presenting, Wintour kept on her signature sunglasses, which she’s long refused to take off in public, for most of the time onstage.
Prior to cinema’s biggest night, PEOPLE learned that a Devil Wears Prada-inspired surprise was planned for the Conan O’Brien-hosted ceremony. Hathaway, who played aspiring journalist Andy Sachs in the original adaptation of Lauren Weisberger’s novel, had been previously announced as one of this year’s Oscars presenters.
The Devil Wears Prada will be getting a sequel with The Devil Wears Prada 2, in theaters May 1.
Devil Wears Prada 2 will star the returning Hathaway, Streep, Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman, plus Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora. David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna have returned to direct and write the screenplay, respectively.

Streep, 76, earned a Best Actress Oscar nod at the 2007 ceremony for her leading role in Devil Wears Prada. She, Hathaway and Blunt, 43, reunited onstage at the 2024 Oscars to present.
