Married At First Sight Australia is underway with 18 hopeful singletons once more encountering each other for the first time at the altar.

In typical MAFS fashion, there’s already been loads of drama, with one groom’s cringe-worthy mistake leaving his bride standing alone on their wedding day, plus two brides clashing in uncomfortable scenes at the inaugural dinner party.

The drama is poised to escalate this week as the popular E4 dating programme introduces an unprecedented twist to challenge the couples. Each married pair will shortly participate in Revelations Week, an exercise designed to uncover concealed truths and determine whether it draws them closer together or pushes them further apart.

But what exactly is Revelations Week? Here’s everything we know.

The men and women will be separated once more into workshops as they undertake a series of challenges designed to promote more meaningful discussions, reports OK!.

Relationship expert John Aiken revealed to TV WEEK: “It’s a new twist that we get the men and women to break up into workshops and we look at red and green flags, and get them to be honest about their partners and give feedback.

“For some, it’s very helpful, but for others it’s very, very problematic.”

He continued: “Does it bring them closer to their partner or divide them away from what they’re there for? Well, that is the big question that you will be asking yourself as you watch, because a number of them don’t have a lot of insight.”

During last night’s explosive episode (Tuesday, March 17), viewers were given a sneak peek into what’s to come at the start of Revelations Week and there is plenty of chaos.

A voiceover teased: “Next time, in its 13th season, the experiment launches a brand new phase.”

It continues: “Over two massive nights, Revelations Week will expose our couples’ deepest secrets… Never before seen tasks will test group dynamics. The photo ranking returns with mixed results and as connections deepen, cracks form for the self proclaimed power couple.”

In explosive clips, Gia can be heard admitting: “I feel a bit sick.”

Cutting to Brook, who is married to Chris, she was seen watching his audition tape on a tablet before the camera cuts to her telling Chris some uncomfortable truths.

She said: “If I saw that at the beginning I would not have given you a chance… I’m a little icked.”

The challenges include the photo ranking challenge as well as the cast discussing red and green flags.
