“Police actually were on their way to another incident in this video – they came across this minor crash on their way and have assigned an officer to follow up with the registered owner of the vehicles,“ police said in a statement.
“There were no reported injuries.
“The job that the unit was heading to was coded as a higher priority job than a minor crash, so the unit recorded available details for later follow-up. The bikes were not pursued.”
Police have not clarified what the other job was.
Earlier on Sunday, a three-car crash on Auckland’s southern motorway has left three people injured.
One person received serious injuries, with another two also injured, police said.
Hato Hone St John said an ambulance and a first response unit attended the crash site.
One patient was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition, with another two patients in a minor condition receiving treatment at the scene, St John said.
The crash follows an earlier accident this morning that left another three injured on the southwestern motorway near Onehunga.
