A man is being sought by police after a woman was stabbed in a “violent assault” in the Christchurch CBD last week.
Police were called to Worcester St, between Latimer Sq and Barbadoes St, around 10pm Thursday following reports a person had “received wounds consistent with being stabbed”.
“The woman was transported to Christchurch Hospital by ambulance, where she underwent surgery,” Sergeant Ben Rolton said last week.

She remained in hospital in a stable condition.
Today, police released an image of a man believed to have been in the area at the time of the incident that may “have information that can assist our investigation”.
Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage in the Latimer Sq area and the Hereford, Worcester, Gloucester, Armagh, and Barbadoes streets between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Thursday were asked to contact police on 105 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

“If you have any footage, no matter how small or irrelevant you may think, it may be the final piece of the puzzle we need for our inquiries,” Rolton said.
“If you have not yet spoken with us, please get in touch.”
