EXCLUSIVE: Anastasia and Drizella are finally coming out from under the shadow of Cinderella. Disney is making Stepsisters, a live-action film that focuses on the evil stepsisters who abused Cinderella and got theirs when her foot fit the slipper.

Fresh from Disney’s Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, director Akiva Schaffer, Dan Gregor and Doug Mand have been set. Schaffer will direct and rework with Gregor & Mand an original script by Michael Montemayor (Tangled).
Ali Bell is producing for Party Over Here, and Disney Live Action EVP Jessica Virtue will oversee with creative exec Cady Stark. Gregor & Mand also scripted the hit reboot of The Naked Gun.
Schaffer is longtime partners with The Lonely Island’s Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone, their Party Over Here is producing. Emmy and Peabody winners for their Saturday Night Live work, they produced the animated series Digman!, PEN15 and the Emmy-winning series I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, and the Sundance Festival sensation Palm Springs.
They are in production on the action comedy Protecting Jared starring Jason Momoa and Samberg for Netflix, filming on location in Hawaii.
Schaffer is repped by CAA, and Gregor & Mand by UTA and Kaplan/Perrone. Montemayor is repped by IAG and Kaplan/Perrone.
