Disney and Lucasfilm, via IGN, have released the first minute-long clip from the upcoming animated series Maul: Shadow Lord. The 10-episode series drops on Disney+ on April 6, with two episodes a week until the finale on May the Fourth.

The context of the clip is slightly unclear, but it might very well be one of the first times Maul is introduced in the show. He appears at the very end, igniting his lightsaber and ready to wreck shop. That scene could be what they also used in the trailer that was shown last year during Star Wars Celebration, when they officially announced Maul as the main character of the next animated series. Check out the new clip below:

The official synopsis of the series reads:

“Set after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, this pulpy adventure finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. There, he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who could be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit for revenge.”

The titles of the ten episodes were recently revealed, along with a new trailer and poster. The cast includes Sam Witwer as Maul, Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara, Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots, Dennis Haysbert as Master Eeko-Dio-Daki, Chris Diamantopoulos as Looti Vario, Charlie Bushnell as Rylee Lawson, Vanessa Marshall as Rook Kast, David W. Collins as Spybot, A.J. LoCascio as Marrok, and Steve Blum as Icarus.

Dave Filoni is creator and executive producer, along with Athena Yvette Portillo, Matt Michnovetz, Brad Rau (who also acts as supervising director), Carrie Beck, and Josh Rimes. Maul – Shadow Lord’s two-episode premier drops 12AM PT April 6, 2026 exclusively on Disney+. The show will then release two episodes every week, with the final episodes airing at 12AM local time on Star Wars day – May 4, 2026.

However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
