Schuster, who has been giving out vouchers for a week, said he doesn’t hang around to see people’s reactions.
“I’m not a people person, so I just get in and get out, I say, ‘here you go, see you later’.
“There is no hanging around.
“They are probably just flabbergasted because I am walking away, getting back in my car.”
So far, Schuster has been to BP Stortford Lodge, Caltex Omahu, Allied Fuel Flaxmere, Caltex Karamu, and Z on Heretaunga St.
“I went to people that I thought might need it, at a petrol pump and made them randomly pick [a voucher].
“I look at the car, and for example, some cars have more dents than others, some are more old.
“If your car was too flash, I wasn’t even looking that way.”
When Schuster runs out of cards, he pays for people’s fuel in the store.
One video showed an elderly Flaxmere woman who was filling up with $20.
“I put in $40 and told her to keep her money.
“It wasn’t so much about the gas, my mind just thought that maybe she needed that $20 elsewhere.”
Schuster said he been searching for ways to help others in need for the past six years.
“Last Christmas and the Christmas before, we went to The Warehouse, and bought a whole bunch of jandals, hats, like mini care packages.”
The recipients were homeless and those less fortunate than himself, Schuster said.
“If I got it, I give it; if I don’t, I won’t.
“I know what it’s like to be broke, so if you can relieve some stress, you relieve some stress.”
He posts the videos to his social media pages LOR1Sk, and hopes to inspire others to do the same.
