Garmin’s Lily 2 Active smartwatch is receiving software v5.08
Garmin has released a new update, software version 5.09, for one of its smartwatches. It is said to improve the performance of the wearable in cold temperatures. However, a sensor-related bug does not appear to have been resolved in this update.
A new software update has arrived for the Garmin Lily 2 Active smartwatch. The last release for this wearable, software version 5.08, arrived in February 2026, bringing a new warning message triggered by a loss of GPS signal.
Software version 5.09 for the Garmin Lily 2 Active is a minor release, with the change log noting only one improvement. According to the official Garmin forum post, this update enhances the stability of the smartwatch in cold temperatures. However, the company has not provided further details, such as the temperature at which users will notice the benefit of this optimization.
This update does not appear to resolve an issue flagged by users in the forum. Many owners of the Garmin Lily 2 Active are experiencing sensor-related problems, where heart rate and sleep data are not being recorded as expected. A representative for Garmin has acknowledged the issue and has been gathering information for a support ticket.
The Garmin software version 5.09 update is now available for all users of the Lily 2 Active smartwatch (curr. $299.99 at Amazon). You can download this update in one of two ways: either via the Garmin Connect Mobile app or the Garmin Express software.
