Cameron had been the benchmark for the lion’s share of the 20-minute session but improved with a 1:36.2144s on his last lap.
Former Blanchard Racing Team Supercars stablemate James Golding was second fastest to make it a Garry Rogers Motorsport one-two.
Golding was 0.1566s off the pace, with a 1:36.2144s on his last lap.
Ford Racing junior Cameron McLeod was third fastest on a 1:36.7283s to end up 0.2314s off the pole position winner.
James Moffat was fourth fastest while Jack Perkins completed the top five.

“It was our first time out in qualifying on these new tyres, so it was a bit of an unknown, so for me I need to give a big thanks to Garry Rogers Motorsport. We tuned the car up nicely, so we’ll see if we can do the same tomorrow in the race.
“I’ve really enjoyed the first day of Mustang Cup Australia. Going back to a H-pattern gear shifter was fun.
“There’s a lot of quick shifting and trying not to wrong slot, but really, I feel like I’m living the dream because the auto blip on the downshift makes me feel like a hero.
“Keen to look at the data now, tune it up a bit more and go even faster in the two races.”
Pole position in the Dark Horse Legends went to Keith Kassulke, who only had Ben Dunn as his other class rival.
Wayne Wadley was a late withdrawal from the historic opening event after a medical issue sidelined him.
The first Mustang Cup Australia race at Phillip Island takes place on Saturday at 12pm AEDT. Coverage will be live and exclusively on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
