Pop singer and producer Charlie Puth has teamed with Coco Jones for his new song “Sideways.” It’s lifted from his fourth album, Whatever’s Clever! out today (March 27) via Atlantic Records.

Produced by Puth, alongside BloodPop®, “Sideways” tells a love story worth saving. Puth and Jones’ voices meet over lush instrumentation, where they sing of a couple willing to navigate obstacles together.

“Even if it goes sideways (Sideways) / Even if we scream out enough’s enough (Enough’s enough) / I believe that we’ll always find a way to weather the storm,” they harmonize in the chorus.

“I love working with vocalists who can take a song to the next level — and Coco did just that,” said Puth. “When writing ‘Sideways,’ I wanted to evoke a very cinematic picture through the chords and melody. And this vision came alive the moment Coco sang into the microphone. She is an incredible artist and it’s been a joy to work with her on this.”

Jones added, “Charlie is such an incredible artist, constantly refining his craft. We had so much fun bringing ‘Sideways’ to life, and it was such an honor debuting the song at Charlie’s Blue Note show together in Los Angeles. I’m so excited that the world can finally hear it!”

On Thursday night (March 26), Puth and Jones performed “Sideways” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the first time on television.

Whatever’s Clever! also includes a collaboration with Ravyn Lenae, who appears on the ’80s-tinged “New Jersey.”

Speaking on his new album, co-produced by BloodPop®, Puth said, “I had to take a closer look at myself to make this record and sing about things I normally wouldn’t sing about. Audiences knew my music more than they knew me because I never really gave them a chance to know me. This is the chance.”

“Sideways” arrives a week after Jones released her era-launching single “Luvagirl.” The Shae Jacobs-produced track marks her first official release since her debut album, Why Not More? which dropped in April 2025. The Grammy-nominated project included the No. 1 hit “Here We Go (Uh Oh).”
