Britain’s Got Talent presenters Ant and Dec were forced to intervene and ‘change the rules’ after one contestant’s future on the show remained uncertain.

During Saturday’s (March 28) instalment of the ITV talent competition, judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and KSI returned to our screens in their quest to discover the next breakthrough performer.

Unsurprisingly, contestants pulled out all the stops in their attempts to wow the judging panel and secure the £250,000 prize money alongside a coveted slot at the Royal Variety Performance.

One particular act, however, sparked considerable debate. Kevin Hogg, recognised as a dance icon and Gateshead’s very own MC Tazo, stepped onto the stage hoping to captivate everyone with his MC abilities.

While his wife and two youngsters, Tyler and Riley, observed from the audience, he encouraged the entire crowd to rise and move as he performed an original composition dedicated to Britain’s Got Talent, reports Belfast Live.

KSI’s enthusiasm was evident as the musician and content creator joined in the dancing, branding Tazo’s track a “banger”. Judge Simon also appreciated the act and awarded him a ‘yes’.

Nevertheless, Amanda and Alesha remained unconvinced, ultimately delivering their verdict with a ‘no’. It appeared Tazo faced elimination as he required three ‘yesses’ from the panel to advance to the subsequent stage.

Yet Geordie duo Ant and Dec refused to accept this outcome, choosing to intervene and ‘change the rules’ to send him through to the next phase of the competition. Taking to the stage, Ant enquired: “Can we just give a ‘yes’ then that will be three ‘yesses’?”

With the audience applauding, Simon responded: “OK right, I changed the rules.” Gesturing towards KSI, he clarified: “Two ‘yesses’, four ‘yesses’, he is through.”

Meanwhile, viewers were left puzzled by Simon’s surprising response to another performance, with some suggesting “he’s lost the plot”.

Japanese music group Arubai appeared on stage and performed one of Queen’s most iconic songs in a style never before seen on the BGT platform. They delivered Don’t Stop Me Now as a Japanese punk number.

Simon stood alone as the only judge to vote ‘yes’, a decision that immediately caught viewers’ attention as they flocked to social media to voice their opinions.

One viewer posted on X: “wtf has happened to Simon he’s lost the plot #bgt.” Another remarked: “Simon liked it.? #BGT #BritainsGotTalent.”

Britain’s Got Talent airs Saturday nights on ITV and ITVX.
