Adams Avenue in Mount Maunganui will reopen to vehicles by 1pm today.

The key coastal route, which runs between Pilot Bay and the Maunganui Road roundabout, has been closed to traffic since 5pm on Thursday as a precautionary measure after heavy rainfall raised concerns about slope stability on Mauao.

Tauranga
City Council said engineers completed assessments over the weekend and confirmed it was safe for vehicles to return, allowing plans to reopen the road today.
