Sabrina Carpenter delivered a roaringly confident headlining performance at Coachella, with at least half a dozen costume changes and a staggering amount of sets, creating her own universe, dubbed “Sabrinawood.” One might’ve expected some superstar musical guests, but Carpenter instead went to a roster of A-list actors to accentuate her triumphant pop music.

At one point, actress Susan Sarandon performed a brief monologue as an older version of Carpenter, but it was Will Ferrell who came through to truly save the day.

After a sultry performance of “Bad Chem,” the lights dimmed and Ferrell appeared on the long catwalk wearing an electrician’s uniform and dragging a large power cable.

“Gosh darnit, did the power go out again? Oh my god. Unbelievable. Typical Coachella,” he said. “This is why you do a tech run-through, but these guys didn’t want to do the tech run-through. Waste of my day. I wanted to work Stagecoach.”

“Sabrina Carpenter, I don’t know. I don’t know, I’m sleeping in my car. Someone probably put a Diet Coke on the console board, that’s what’s going on. Do you guys mind if I have a smoke?” he said, struggling to light a cigarette in the wind.

“By the way, does anybody have room in their Airbnb for me?” he asked.

After a few more seconds of theatrics, Ferrell reconnected the power and the lights came back on, revealing a new set showing a glamorous downtown scene covered in theater marquees. Carpenter walked back onstage in a lacy black one-piece with a flowing tail to continue what will go down as one of the most memorable Coachella sets of the year.

The festival continues through the rest of the weekend, with Justin Bieber headlining Saturday night and Karol G concluding the festival on Sunday.
