New Zealand’s Futsal Ferns have won their three-match series against China after a scoreless draw in their final game.

The sides remained deadlocked at 0-0 after meeting for the third time at Lingwu Stadium, Yinchuan.

The Futsal Ferns, who were #31 in the FIFA women’s rankings before the series, were unbeaten in the CFA International Women’s Futsal Challenge against China, who were ranked #15.

After winning the series opener 2-0, New Zealand drew 1-1 and 0-0 in the remaining games.

“We’re happy that we showed consistency throughout all three games,” Futsal Ferns head coach Nic Downes said after the third game.

“We’re probably disappointed that we didn’t score another goal (tonight) but we’re happy that we were able to be really good defending in the three games.”

The series provided the Futsal Ferns with their first opportunity for international competition since last year’s FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup in the Philippines.

While the women’s team have completed their China tour, the Futsal Whites have one more game to go.

They meet the Netherlands (#29) on Monday night (NZT) at Lingwu Stadium.
