People around Spears described her as “incredibly emotional” and said she was ashamed and embarrassed by the incident.
“It’s been a very hard couple of months,” the source said.

A representative for Spears told People the DUI was an “unfortunate incident” that was “completely inexcusable”.
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” the representative said.
“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for wellbeing.”
Although Spears hasn’t commented on her arrest in March, she has continued to post on Instagram.
Two weeks after her arrest, she posted a video with her son, Jayden Federline, captioning it: “Thank you guys for all your support… spending time with family and friends is such a blessing. Stay kind!!!”
More recently, she has posted dancing videos and a picture of herself at home.
“When peeps try to make you larger than life… tell them to BOW if I ever showed them the fragility of my real heart,” she wrote.
Spears is due in court on May 4.
