Jetour, the adventure-focused SUV brand under the Chery Group umbrella, has confirmed it will enter the New Zealand market, with a local launch expected in late 2026.

While Australia will take priority, New Zealand is firmly part of Jetour’s expansion plans. A representative for the brand’s Chinese marketing agency described the ANZ region as “a vital new market”, confirming that groundwork for entry is already underway.

Jetour offers a broad mix of powertrains across its global line-up, including petrol, hybrid, range-extender and full electric options. However, it remains unclear whether the brand will operate locally via a distributor or establish a direct presence. What is confirmed is that Jetour will function independently from Chery’s existing operations in the region.

Based on its right-hand-drive range in South Africa, New Zealand buyers can expect models such as the Dashing compact SUV, the X70 Plus seven-seater, and the off-road-focused T-Series, including the T1 and T2 (below). The latter has proven particularly popular, positioned as a rugged alternative to models like the GWM Tank 300.

Pricing is expected to be competitive, with estimates suggesting an entry point in the high-$30,000 range and the flagship T2 landing in the low-to-mid $50,000 bracket.

Jetour’s arrival will see it go head-to-head with emerging value-focused brands such as BAIC, which has already launched locally with a similar adventure-oriented pitch. However, Jetour may hold an advantage with a broader model portfolio and ambitious future products, including a large plug-in hybrid SUV and a dual-cab ute currently under development.
