The Sultanate of Oman achieved a significant milestone by delivering its first locally made fishing vessel overseas, marking a momentous occasion in its maritime tradition and heritage.

The FV Sea King of Liberia in West Africa officially received the vessel, which was designed and constructed by SeaPride Marine Engineering LLC, a subsidiary of Sea Pride LLC in Sur.

The vessel, measuring 23 metres in length, boasts a versatile design suitable for various fishing methods. This achievement underscores the strength and progress of Omani industry, demonstrating its ability to access international markets and compete proudly with products bearing the label ‘Made in Oman’, according to Mohammed Ameen, CEO of Sea Pride Group of Companies.

“This groundbreaking deal highlights Oman’s emerging shipbuilding capabilities in a sector traditionally dominated by international players,” he said, emphasising that Sea Pride Marine Engineering has become the first company in the Middle East to export a high-quality fibreglass vessel built to meet international specifications.

Ameen further stated that Sea Pride Marine Engineering is recognised as one of the leading companies in the Sultanate of Oman in the field of marine industries with a strong reputation through the construction of advanced vessels that adhere to the highest international standards of technology and quality.
