The Prince and Princess of Wales are no longer Britain’s favourite members of the Royal Family, according to a new poll by YouGov UK.

Instead, the late Queen Elizabeth II has been crowned the most popular royal, ahead of what would have been her 100th birthday next week, on April 21.

The beloved monarch, who died in September 2022, is still viewed positively by 81 per cent of Brits, which is higher than any of her living relatives.

In second place, Princess Diana has a 77 per cent approval rating, showing she remains incredibly popular with the British public nearly 29 years on from her tragic death.

Prince William secured the third spot, with 76 per cent, and was closely followed by Princess Catherine on 75 per cent.

The Waleses previously held the top spot in January’s YouGov rankings, although their positivity score remains largely unchanged, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Princess Anne, famously dubbed the hardest working royal, came in fifth with 70 per cent, while King Charles followed with 60 per cent.

At the other end of the scale, disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was named as Britain’s least favourite royal, with just three per cent of Brits holding a positive view of him.

The result is unsurprising given the former Duke of York’s catastrophic fall from grace this year.

The 66-year-old was plagued with controversy after new revelations emerged about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, leading to his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

At the time of writing, the ex-prince remains under investigation over allegations he shared confidential information with the late sex offender.

Elsewhere in the YouGov poll, Meghan Markle came second-to-last, with just 20 per cent of Brits saying they have a positive opinion of her.

Prince Harry was not far off with 30 per cent, placing him third from the bottom.

The figures are a new low for the Sussexes, and the lowest ever recorded for them by YouGov.

It comes as Meghan and Harry are currently on their highly-publicised tour of Australia.

On the final day of the four-day trip, the couple arrived in Sydney, where they met with lifeguards at Bondi Beach and sailed around Sydney Harbour in an Invictus Australia event.
