SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Shreveport city leaders are fixing a mistake in retirement payments after an internal audit found staff posted more than $1 million to the wrong pension funds for nearly eight years.
The city’s audit office says about $1.3 million was put in the wrong accounts between the fire, police, and city employee retirement plans.
The audit says 34 retirees were affected, with mistakes ranging from about $600 to more than $82,000.
City leaders say it happened before the current HR team, and they’re training staff now. Fixing it and moving the money back could take six to 12 months.
