A search and rescue operation has been launched in Karori after a man was reported unaccounted for after extreme weather in Wellington.
A family member called emergency services after being unable to make contact with Phillip Sutton, who is aged in his 60s.
Sutton’s Karori South Road property was found to be hit by floodwaters and debris.
Police have been checking places Sutton was known to go, and were searching in South Karori Road and nearby streams.
Later on Monday afternoon, police and civil defence teams were seen leaving the area.
Police took a fender from the side of the road into one of their vans. They said they would release more information in a statement later.

One man was pulling debris from floodwaters rushing over the road. Another was clearing mud with a digger. Piles of debris and fallen trees were heaped at the sides of the road.
A chair was left sat next to the streaming waters.
