Adidas has just announced the launch of what we’re predicting to be the buzziest shoe launch of 2026: The Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3. It’s the lightest racing shoe from Adidas ever, weighing in at an average of just over 97 grams.

Since launching in September 2023, the Adizero franchise has been worn by Adidas athletes while they broke three world records and won over 30 key road races, including six World Marathon Major wins, seven national records, and one Olympic record time.
In fact, the third man over the finish line at the Boston Marathon this past Sunday, Benson Kipruto, as well as the seventh woman, Workenesh Edesa, were both wearing older versions of the Adizero Adios Pro Evo.

The latest shoe in the range will be debuting this weekend at the London Marathon, worn by Kenyan long-distance runner and defending champ Sabastian Sawe – the man some are predicting to be the first person to run a race-legal sub-two marathon.
Designed to give you an edge on race day, the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 is the result of three years of intense research. It’s 30% lighter than the previous iteration of the shoe and with 1.6% more running economy. It also has a 39mm stack, maximising the cushioning and energy return with every step.
Adidas’ VP of running, Patrick Nava, said of the design process: “At that level, every detail really matters – we were measuring things down to the nearest nanogram. It was a long process, but it’s led to something we believe genuinely changes what a race-day shoe can feel like.”

The carbon technology has been totally redesigned in this shoe with ENERGYGRIM, which integrates the carbon into the design and reimagines how stiffness and propulsion look in a supershoe.
The shoe went through a dozen iterations while theAdidas team refined the final design, working closely with athletes and testing everyone from the Adidas labs in Herzogenaurach to high-altitude camps in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Stephan Scholten, adidas’ VP of product said, “Our goal was two digits on the scale, with better performance than we’ve ever had.” The shoe has been made with next-generation Lightstrile Pro Evo foam, the brand’s lightest and most responsive foam to date, and nearly 50% lighter than previous versions of the shoe.
The design of the upper was inspired by kitesurfing sails, with a weightless feel that still provides the necessary support. The strategically placed Continental rubber in the forefoot provides the traction you need when running at fast speed, without compromising on weight.
The Adizero adios Pro Evo 3 will be available in a limited release on the 25th of April, followed by a wider release in the autumn marathon season. This level of innovation doesn’t come cheap, with a pair costing £500.
The shoe will be available online at Adidas as well as some specialty stores.
