Tomorrow the country will commemorate Anzac Day, a time to remember brave New Zealanders and the sacrifice’s they made.
Tonight we are going to focus on the incredible stories of two men, part of a select group who served in a range of secret service roles in World War Two.
Journalist and documentary-maker Lawrence Watt has been researching the intriguing war time work of Bruce Kivell and Douglas Palmer.
He joins Mark Leishman on the show to discuss.

“A hut in a high, lofty place where solitude prevails.”
That was the vision of keen tramper Jackie Winters, who left a generous bequest to create a remote hut for others to enjoy.
Her friend Ana Terry was entrusted with bringing that vision to life, and today the Brass Monkey Hut sits high in the ranges of Lewis Pass, perched on the Main Divide where New Zealand’s east and west meet.
Ana is joined by Don Hunter, another friend of Jackie’s who helped build the hut, alongside Mark Leishman, to share the story behind this remarkable project.
