Glendene building fire sends black smoke over West Auckland, 14 fire crews race to scene

Black smoke is rising over West Auckland as more than a dozen fire crews race to respond to a major blaze at a boat building facility.

The smoke can be seen from as far away as Mairangi Bay and Pt Chevalier, where one witness filmed a dark plume rising from
the Glendene industrial precinct several kilometres away.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said 14 crews – including support crews – were fighting the blaze.

“People in the vicinity of the fire are advised to keep windows and doors closed if impacted by smoke.
