A WINNER has been crowned in the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards – and first place has ruffled some feathers.

Some of this year’s best entries included dancing gorillas monkeying around and a bear cub baring it all for the cameras.

Alison Tuck’s perfectly-timed snap of a gannet with grass over its head – titled “Now, where’s my nest?” – was dubbed top of the pecking order.

In another snap by Andrew Mortimer, two frogs looked like they were Kermit-ting a crime as one stood upright on the other’s back.

Michael Stavrakakis captured an orangutang in the forest who, much like the Jungle Book’s King Louie, wanted to prove he was king of the swingers.

Another hilarious picture, taken by John Speirs, shows a duck who didn’t fancy being up at the quack of dawn.

Entries for the awards – which comes from all over the world – were shortlisted from the 2025 awards.

The overall competition winner and winners for individual categories were announced last December.

Mark Meth Cohn’s snap of a gorilla seemingly doing the Kong-a thorough the Virunga Mountains, in East Africa, was the overall winner.

Warren Price captured some fowl play between two guillemots – landing him the winning picture in the bird category.

Meanwhile, a snap of some un-hoppy frogs – taken by teen photographer Grayson Bell – won the reptiles, amphibian and insect category.

And a fish bass-king in the coral was captured by Jenny Stock – winning the fish and aquatic species award.

But Alison emerged victorious in the People’s Choice Vote – which is entirely down to the public.

She took the snap while on a school trip to Bempton Cliffs, with her snap showing the gannet collecting grass for a nest in windy conditions.

Alison said she was “honoured” by the award – as her picture of the confused bird in Yorkshire beat out 40 other amusing entries.

She added: “It was really exciting to get into the finals with my gannet and I was honoured to get a Highly Commended. 

“However, being awarded this category is something else and I am really chuffed and grateful to all the people who voted for me.

“Not forgetting to mention how much fun I had – it is The Nikon Wildlife Comedy Awards after all!”
