New footage of Hollywood actor / director Olivia Wilde on a red carpet has shocked some fans, and led to fierce debate on the internet about the star’s wellbeing – and about the appropriateness of such speculation.
Wilde, attended the opening night of the San Francisco International Film Festival, to promote her upcoming film The Invite. She stopped on the red carpet for multiple interviews, and one has since gone viral on social media – not for what she said, but how she looked.
The actress appeared wide-eyed and drawn in the footage, originally shot by San Francisco news outlet SFGate, with her face noticeably slimmer.

One clip of the interview shared on social media has amassed almost 10 million views, with many commenters dissecting Wilde’s appearance – arguing that everything from a serious illness to a weight loss drug could be the cause of her altered visage.
The interview was originally posted to SFGate’s Instagram page, where many commenters pointed the finger at a different culprit: The camera operator.

“Oof, wrong lens for sure. I was background on this [film] and she is breathtaking irl,” read one top-rated comment.
“The cameraman really doing a disservice here,” commented another viewer.
Another asked if the interview had been shot with a “fish-eye lens.”
“I see the camera man is using the ‘[husband], can you take a picture of me?’ angle,” another joked.
Others even accused the camera operator of using an unflattering angle to make the clip go viral: “That’s it. I’m going to use bad camera angles to increase engagement on IG. Genius,” one person commented.
“The cameraman is a Jason Sudeikis fan,” another quipped, a reference to Wilde’s actor ex, with whom she has two children.
Wilde and Sudeikis split in 2020, after which she dated her Don’t Worry Darling male lead Harry Styles from 2021 to 2022 and actor Dane DiLiegro from 2024 to 2025.
More recently, Wilde was photographed kissing singer Ellie Goulding’s ex-husband Caspar Jopling after a three-hour restaurant date.
