Tejalakshmi, aka Kunjatta who attended the national film awards ceremony to watch her mother, and actor Urvashi receive the honour for Best Supporting Actor from President Droupadi Murmu. Kunjatta took to social media to share her happiness on her mother’s two-time win.
“One of the most beautiful days of my life, A surreal and proud moment! Watching Amma receive the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for the second time felt like the biggest privilege of my life.
To witness that stage, to be there, and on top of it all, seeing our Lalettan being honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award representing Malayalam cinema. Truly a proud moment for all of us,” she wrote.
Urvashi won the honour for Best Supporting Actor for her performance as Leelamma in ‘Ullozhukku’, directed by Christo Tomy. The jury had praised her subtle performance and her ability to portray pain and emotions with subtle expressions in the movie. ‘Ullozhukku’ also featured Parvathy Thiruvothu who played Leelamma’s daughter-in-law in the film. ‘Ullozhukku’ also received the national award for Best Malayalam Film.
