A Christchurch theatre has been crowned New Zealand’s Venue of the Year for hosting a sports event on their stage.
The Isaac Theatre Royal (ITR) on Gloucester Street won the gong at the New Zealand Events’ Association annual awards for the NZ Squash Open 2025.
The team of 18 judges awarded the ITR for “bravery in transforming an historic stage into a glass squash court, exceptional customer service, commitment to innovation seemingly merging sports, culture and entertainment. Setting new benchmark standards both nationally and internationally.”
