It seems Hugh Jackman’s close friendship with a member of the Trump family may be putting his romance with Sutton Foster on thin ice.
Did you know that Ivanka Trump has been buddies with Jackman and his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, for decades? Insiders revealed a bit more to Rob Shuter’s Naughty but Nice Substack: “Hugh and Ivanka go way back. This isn’t some casual Hollywood friendship. They’ve stayed genuinely close for years, and that relationship has never really changed.”

“Sutton’s politics are very different. She’s vocal about where she stands, and the Ivanka-Jared circle is not a world she feels comfortable in — socially or politically,” the insider added. “That room was never going to be Sutton’s scene. And seeing Hugh so comfortable in that crowd — especially with Ivanka there — definitely hit a nerve.”
In a previous interview with The View in 2018 via Vanity Fair, Jackman even discussed his friendship with Ivanka, and defended it. “People question, ‘Really?’ And I’m kinda like, ‘OK, let’s say your friends of [20 years’] father became president,” he said. “Whether you agree with the politics or not, do you just dump your friends? I’m like, ‘no, no you don’t.’ I don’t understand that.”

Now, despite this reported tension, insiders insist Jackman and Foster are working it out. They said, “They care deeply about each other. But when politics enters the conversation, it can get tense fast. That’s where the real sparks fly.”

For those who don’t know, Jackman and Foster’s relationship allegedly began as an affair in 2022, while they were working together on The Music Man on Broadway. They had met over a decade prior, in 2008, when they saw Shrek on Broadway.
Per a bombshell November 2024 report in Us Weekly, Jackman and Foster’s alleged affair seemingly caused his divorce from Furness. But in Oct 2025, the pair made their red carpet debut (and proved they’re still in love despite being quite private)!
