Call The Midwife fans devastated as Sister Evangelina dies suddenly after a stroke
The BBC has treated fans to a new look at Amandaland season two, and a Call the Midwife star has joined the cast.
The Motherland spin-off follows Amanda Hughes, played by Lucy Punch, as a single mum of two teenagers who is forced to relocate to a less affluent part of London following her divorce.
The second season of the BBC show follows Amanda as she continues to navigate life in South Harlesden, otherwise known as SoHa, while juggling mum life, her online Senuous brand and her “co-lab” working at Kitchen’s Bathrooms and Kitchens.
As the busy mum resigns herself to staying in the area, she is thrilled when a hipster coffee shop opens, which, to her mind, represents a step towards gentrification.

Pam Ferris has joined the cast to portray Amanda’s frail neighbour, Elspeth, who lives in a very desirable house and whom Amanda is quick to befriend.
The 77-year-old actress is best known for her roles as Matilda’s Miss Trunchbull, Nativity’s Mrs Bevan and The Darling Buds of May’s Ma Larkin.
Call the Midwife fans will know Pam as Sister Evangelina in the BBC period drama, who was an Anglican nun of the Order of Saint Raymond Nonnatus and a resident of Nonnatus House.
Between 2012 and 2016, the nun had a robust sense of humour and was incredibly good at her job, delivering babies in Poplar and offering a stern word or two.

However, Sister Evangelina suffered a stroke and passed away in her sleep before being found by Fred Buckle (Cliff Parisi) in the finale episode of series five.
Sister Evangelina recently staged a surprise return in the series 15 finale of Call the Midwife, which aired earlier this year, appearing as a ghostly figure to help Sister Monica Joan (Judy Parfitt) pass away following a battle with chronic kidney disease.

Alongside Lucy Punch and Pam Ferris, viewers can expect the return of Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) as Amanda’s mum, Felicity, and Philippa Dunne (Derry Girls) as Anne.
Samuel Anderson (Shetland, Gavin & Stacey) will also reprise his role as Mal, alongside Rochenda Sandall (Line of Duty) as Fi.
They’re joined by new cast addition Harriet Webb (Big Boys), who can be seen in the trailer.
Amandaland begins on Wednesday 6 May on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
