Radio personality Pebbles will step away from Hot 96.9 after over 13 years at the station.

The Wareham native leaves 96.9 to focus on “Positively Pebbles,” a weekly podcast and newsletter “designed to lift your spirits, make you think, and help you to rediscover the beauty in everyday life,” according to the Apple Podcasts description.

At the Beasley Media Group station, she hosted the “Voices with Pebbles” public affairs program. She also co-anchored “The GetUp Crew,” where she recently broke the news that Friday, May 8 will be her last day on air.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the years I’ve been able to spend connecting with our listeners every morning,” Pebbles said in the station website’s announcement. “This next chapter allows me to put even more energy into ‘Positively Pebbles’ — a platform all about connection, sharing real stories, making a meaningful difference, and shining a light on the good in the world. I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received over the years and for the opportunity to use my voice to make a difference.”

Pebbles started her radio career at WILD 1090 AM a Black-oriented Boston station known for playing new artists, including being the first to broadcast New Edition’s “Candy Girl.”

On Monday’s installment of “The GetUp Crew,” one of the group’s founding members, Michael Bivins, called in to wish the host well.

“To still have a job because people respect your voice is a powerful statement to the people that hired you and the morning crew that rock with you. So I’m just going to keep it short and say, I love you, and thank you for being there since I was, what, 13, 14? I’m 57,” Bivins said. “That’s a long ride.”

After her time at 1090, Pebbles moved to another Boston station, JAM’N 94.5, where she worked for more than 15 years. During her over three decades on air, Pebbles has received several accolades, including the 2023 Broadcaster of the Year award from the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association and an Alliance for Women in Media Foundation Gracie Award in the Public Affairs-Local category. In 2024, she was inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
