Topeka’s SENT offers EMDR therapy to address trauma

  • May 7, 2026

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A traumatic experience can have a very real impact on your brain.

It’s why we sometimes get stuck in or taken back to the experience and the emotions.

Topeka’s SENT is offering a unique therapy to help. Tricia Sublet, SENT’s mental health director, visited Eye on NE Kansas to explain how it works.

The therapy is called EMDR, which stand for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Sublet explained that trauma can disrupt neuropathways connecting the two sides of the brain, which can lead to one side of the brain ‘looping’ while we try to process a trauma and our reactions to it.

EMBR uses bilateral stimulation to get both sides of the brain working together to reprocess the traumatic event.

Watch the interview to learn more. Reach out to SENT at 785-783-2535 or senttopeka.com/.
