When there’s only one country where you want to have sex, that’s amore.

On the latest episode of Call Her Daddy, released May 6, the pop singer — who identifies as “not straight” but eschews specific labels — shared that she is “mostly celibate,” with one caveat. Pressed by host Alex Cooper to clarify, Kesha said, “I’m celibate except for when I’m in Italy.” And you’ll never guess the continuation of that thought: “So now I actually masturbate to gratitude meditations,” she went on to say.

“Let me just say those downloads on the gratitude ones are going to way up,” Cooper joked.

Why is Italy the only one of the nearly 200 countries on earth where Kesha still feels like finding a partner? She did not elaborate, but elsewhere in the episode she heaped praise on the country’s pasta. “I actually love my body,” Kesha said, during a portion of the conversation focused on self-esteem and self-image. “And I went to Italy and I ate a lot of pasta and I love it. Like, it’s so cunty to just be in your body and love it.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Kesha — one of a rash of LGBTQ+ celebrities to host paranormal TV shows in recent years — also elaborated on her spiritual belief in past lives. When asked by Cooper to list off some of those lives, she rattled off, “I think I was burned at the stake, I definitely was a man, and this is like a delusion that’s helped me in a lot of ways, but I like to think that I am the reincarnation of Athena.”

Not to fact-check something said on Call Her Daddy but Athena was not a real historical figure — and also, in Kesha’s preferred country of Italy, the goddess would be known as Minerva. But that’s besides the point, which is that Kesha has a beautiful mind.
